Jeweled Pair

or, “the Bridge that Brings us together”

18” x24” original acrylic painting on canvas

These two almost didn’t make it to the party. I started on this piece fairly early in the collection and then laid it aside. The Wood Duck pair just didn’t seem to want to come together.

I didn’t want to barrel through and come out with something less than excellent, so I put it to the back of the line and told them (the ducks,) that we would try again later.

I considered adding other ducks to the release, but none of the others on the shortlist made the ultimate cut. The jewel-box tones of these waterfowl are the reason I decidedly wanted this Wood Duck pair in the collection, and painting the patternings of color made it an excellent challenge to pull off.

I did circle back again, but with only 36 hours before the collection launch, I wasn’t betting on this piece to make it on time.
As is courtship, partnership, and marriage, we have to be willing to find that bridge that brings us back together. In spite of the difficulties— some clearly more challenging than others, it’s the willingness to try again that is half of the battle. Or maybe rather, half of the resolution.

In the end, they did come together, and this wooded couple make a fabulous pair.
