Native Snow

24”x 24” original acrylic on canvas

Snow Bird of the Deep South

It’s as if the Snowy Egret knows how gorgeous it is. Wouldn’t you love that kind of confidence? The way those feathers float so easily on the slightest breeze gives this bird the most ethereal appearance.

It would have been easy to stop the painting before adding those floating feathers and just leave her as a (glorious, but more typical) White Egret. But I went for it.

There was no turning back after adding that first sweeping feather, and I can tell that this bird appreciates the angelic framework. The white on white glows on this bird, and he’s found a tree to catch just the right breeze.

In the deep south, this is the loveliest kind of Snow we see.
